2022 SAFTAD generates ‘CAREFUL OPTIMISM’

ANGLING INDUSTRY

On the weekend of 22 – 23 July in Ormonde, Johannesburg, the South African Fishing Tackle Agents & Distributors organisation (SAFTAD), the supply side of the South African recreational fishing industry, after an absence of two years due to Covid restrictions, was once again allowed (and able!) to present itself to the retail sector.
And indeed, I will be excused for calling it a “joyous occasion” as old acquaintances and colleagues could again communicate in person and not via a screen. After all the catching up and interviews with several of the exhibitors, not only the big ticket, veteran ‘establishment’ among them but also younger newcomers to the industry, the overall impression I gained was one of ‘careful optimism’.
