ALL WOMEN FLY FISHING TEAM MAKE HISTORY

After placing fourth in the first round earlier this year of the TOPS Corporate Fly Fishing Challenge South Africa’s very first all women fly fishing team has earned a place in the finals. The team – Roxanne Stegen (captain), Bridgette Stegen, Sindi-Leigh McBain and Lyndall Blaikie all share a deep passion for the sport.

The Tops Corporate Challenge is in its 18th year and is widely accepted as the most prestigious freshwater fly fishing competition held in South Africa. It is staged annually at one of SA’s fly fishing hotspots, Nottingham Road in the KZN Midlands.

The event consists of three legs held over three separate weekends in June / July each year. Each leg consists of 15 teams of four anglers. The top five teams from each leg qualify for the finals that carries prize money in excess of R1 million on 22 and 25 August.

According to team captain Roxanne Stegen the team is pleased to have made it to the finals and is looking forward to competing against the best on the circuit once again.
