There are no guarantees when it comes to bass. Some days are for the angler and others for the fish. It comes with the territory. But sometimes, it takes more than a strong spirit to overcome the despair of a fishless trip. In one case … giraffes in the bushveld.
It’s no secret that those of us who fish, clutch faithfully to promise. We are bullish, hopeful and rosy, void of negativity and forever pert. No matter how many trips, or how many failures, optimism prevails. We embark on every new adventure with a spring in our step.
Yet, most forays fail to match our fish catching expectations. We will neither win the tournament nor land a personal best. Patterns fall flat, lakes change, weather disrupts and our skills can fail us. Therefore it would seem that after so many miles we would approach new adventure with at least a small amount of cynicism, but the opposite rings true.
