SIMON’S TOWN – Many people dream about carving a new life for themselves, but few will do it better than one Western Cape retiree.

Donald Campbell of Simon’s Town, retired from the work force after many years of designing machinery. The avid bass angler began whiling away his newfound free time with a small knife, a block of wood and a vision to create the perfect swimbait.

“It all started several years ago when I lost a friend’s fishing bait,” says the aspiring bait maker. “I was unable to find the exact type of bait that I lost and decided to carve one by hand.”
