Inland Game Fish: Pongolapoort Dam/Lake Jozini

- WHERE TO FIND THEM: Shallow drop offs, depth ranging 3-7m.
- FAVOURITE SPOTS: Entrance to main lake on north western shore, pump house and rocky bank on eastern side along mountain.
- WHAT BAIT TO USE: Tilapia, Chicken Hearts, Sardine, Copper Spoons.
- TACKLE (LINE CLASS, LEADER, HOOKS, SINKERS, KNOTS): 4000 Penn Battle grinder, 7ft m/h Sensation power plus rod, 22lb Abrasion mono line, 12inch carbon coated steel wire, orange beads & 8/0 Linx powerplus hooks.
- FISHING REGULATIONS: Catch & Release only

- WHERE TO FIND THEM: Deep channels best in discoloured water and calm conditions.
- FAVOURITE SPOTS: Jubula Beach and Crayfish Point
- STATE OF THE TIDE: Low tide
- WHAT BAIT TO USE: Small spoons, best pinkie green “Iron Candy”.
- TACKLE (LINE CLASS, LEADER, HOOKS, SINKERS, KNOTS): Good 11foot spinning rod with appropriate reel.
- FISHING REGULATIONS: 10 p.p.p.d, I prefer Catch and Release!

STILBAAI TO JONGENSFONTEIN

- BEACH OR BOAT? Beach
- WHERE TO FIND THEM: Basically anywhere mostly deeper rocky areas in calmer seas.
- FAVOURITE SPOTS: Skulpiesbaai, Burn se klip, Pieter rog, Paaltjie en Hoebaai.
- STATE OF THE TIDE: 2 Hours before high till 2 hours after.
- WHAT BAIT TO USE: Spoons, jerk minnows and buctail
- TACKLE (LINE CLASS, LEADER, HOOKS, SINKERS, KNOTS): 11ft With a 5 000-size reel with 20lbs braid. 60mm Leader line. Small biting trace with a 5/0 J hook. 2-3 oz Sinker.
- FISHING REGULATIONS: 4 bigger than 30cm.

- WHERE TO FIND THEM: Rockier areas with working water, gullies with mussel beds.
- FAVOURITE SPOTS: Jakkalsputz, Grys Duintjie and Popeye, Mile 8 & 14.
- STATE OF THE TIDE: Incoming tide, high water
- WHAT BAIT TO USE: White mussel, red bait, crayfish.
- TACKLE (LINE CLASS, LEADER, HOOKS, SINKERS, KNOTS): Light tackle. 12’ rod with a small reel, 20lb braid and size 1 hook.
- FISHING REGULATIONS: 10 fish pppd. You may transport three days catch, of which, no more than 10 may be galjoen. Minimum size is 30cm.
