Your launch pad for 14km² of fishing heaven! When you or your fishing club plan your annual fishing trip, consider coming to Gooderson Knysna Chalets. Knysna Chalets is the latest acquisition made by Gooderson Leisure Corporation in November 2019. We are situated literally a stone’s throw from the Knysna Estuary. For those anglers who have their own watercraft, we have a public slipway and jetty located not even 50m from our front gate with secure parking for your care and trailer after launching. We offer 28 fully serviced, 4 sleeper self-catering chalets all with their own braais. The resort also boasts a lovely Games Room which can double up as conference area with a sparkling pool and hot tub jacuzzi situated right outside. Knysna Chalets offers plenty of parking for trailers, boats as well as storage facilities for any other equipment that would be needed. We are a perfect venue, not only for individual anglers, but also for Fishing Clubs who wish to make block bookings with us. Special rates will apply for group bookings. For many decades now, the Knysna Lagoon has been a sought-after destination for almost all of South Africa’s anglers. The lagoon offers almost 14 square kilometres of fishing heaven particularly for those anglers who have access to fishing craft. Besides the ever-popular grunter in summer and steenbras in winter, the lagoon is home to many other exciting species such as kob, leervis/garrick, shad, skates and mullet. Catches of white musselcracker and the occasional ragged-tooth shark have also been recorded in the Lagoon. Apart from this we have the usual suspects when it comes to robbing your bait, such as stumpnose, zebra, blacktail and tobies/blaasoppies. Further upstream on the river, there is an abundance of the famous Knysna Mud Crab. For those anglers who do not have access to fishing vessels, Knysna Chalets is centrally located with excellent fishing opportunities from the banks of the estuaries as well as world renown rock and surf fishing on the Southern Cape coastline, particularly between Sedgefield and Plettenberg Bay. Fish normally move up in the estuary with the pushing tide and down with the outgoing tide. It is therefore advisable to fish close to the heads at low tide and then move up with the pushing tide towards the “white bridge” located right at the Knysna Chalets. We do have loads of specials running throughout the year with particular emphasis on the numerous festivals that Knysna has to offer. The Simola Hill Climb and the Oyster Festival are probably two of the largest and most well-known.
