Mar-Leo, Roodeplaat Dam with my Nite Hawk Reels!

I live in Centurion, between two dams, Roodeplaat north-east of Pretoria on the Moloto road and about 20km from Rietvlei. So, as an angler, I am therefore very privileged to have a choice of two dams very close to home. I try to go fish once a week on a Thursday. When he is not in the field my cousin, a professional hunter, comes along to hear and see what a Nite Hawk reel can do! Here’s the story and proof of the efficiency of a Nite Hawk. Hope you like!

First light … Pietersburg highway heading north.
Take the Sefako Makgatho off ramp (old Zambezi Road).
Toll gate R13.00 … not too bad.
After the Chinese Mall, turn left.
Tar ends. Approx 2 km ground road.
Secure access makes the site safe.
Mar-Leo Angling. This is a very small resort (30 swims). The venue is usually full, so I was lucky to find a spot.
First sight of the dam. Enough to get everyone excited!
My bakkie with rod racks.
Very comfortable to fish with a rod rack.
Four rods and Nitehawks loaded.
2x Okuma Barbarian 10ft rods. 2x Okuma Blue Carbon 11ft rods.
Something sweet for the Roodeplaat carp. A platanna on my cousins one rod.
