A. MY TURN | MY BEURT

Well, it’s arrived, namely September, our traditional month of Spring, signalling the advent of long, sunny, warm days, shorter nights, some welcome rain, and of course hungry fish! So to all readers a warm welcome to our September issue, which again seeks to entertain and inform. I certainly hope it does that for you!
Another feature of September in southern Africa is that bass are entering their annual spawning rituals. The more south one goes, the later this happens; the more north one goes, the earlier it happens. In Zimbabwe and Botswana, for example, bass are known to spawn as early as late July, while in the Cape some fish are still spawning in December.
