Dis toe ek my mooiste vis gevang kry die dag voor ek moet terug universiteit toe. Hierdie 86cm Belman op bloedwurm en tjokka is beslis een van daardie vangste. Nou sit ek weer in klas en droom van die viswaters! PAUL MARITZ - Paul het ’n dorado van 1,15 meter by Richardsbaai gevang op trolling met ’n Rapala Silver Shallow Diver. Die dorado is weer vrygelaat en een van sy “bucket list” items is afgemerk. JAN-HENDRIK HOFMEYR - Ek het hierdie geelstert-tuna van 11,8kg gevang vanaf die boot “El- Shadai” by Richardsbaai. STEFAN KRUGER - This day was never supposed to happen the way it turned out at all. In the morning around 06:00 we discovered that the latch at the front of the boat was completely in its chops and bent open. We knew we had to first replace it for our safety which meant that my dad had to go into Stilbaai town and find a replacement while we waited at the house which felt like a lifetime for him to return. Around 11:00 he returned, we hooked the boat and raced to the harbour, we launched and headed towards Jongesfontein direction where we sat at our new spot that we had discovered. This reef is unbelievable - as soon as you drop to the bottom which is between 8-15m you instantly get these crazy numbers of bites and before you know it you have a few red romans, slingers, breams on your line, and it isn’t these lighties you catch at the harbour, it’s these fat, pan-size fish. As time goes on and the fish is biting nicely our other crew member is busy throwing up her breakfast and turning slightly green in the face and decides that she has had enough of this fishing and taps out. While she is busy putting her rod away I felt this slight pull on my line and at first I thought it was just the swell and ignored it but then it pulled harder and then I “kapped” hard and hooked into this massive unknown monster at the time. The fight now started and I’m busy screaming like I always do when I think I have a big fish on the line and my dad is going crazy there at the back of the boat with me, and I’m fighting this fish and I’m just saying out loud please Lord, don’t let me lose this one please, please, please! And my rod is continuously bending heavily and as soon as I think I got this fish up from the reef it decides to take more line and the fish is giving me "pak" and not me giving it. As time goes on and I got the fish off the reef we started to see a shimmering outline of something big and my first thought was that it is a shark because it was doing crazy amounts of head shakes, but to my amazement we see this monster of a red steenbras. I look at my dad and I just see his eyes are as big as the moon and saying, “my son, well done!” SANDY HAND - I had a great day and lots of fun where the fish were feeding. I caught and released a small mussell cracker and a banded zebra caught on pink prawn with a number 1/0 hook on 6kg Kingfisher line. HANRO GRIESSEL - Ek het hierdie 12,54kg baber by Misverstanddam gevang op kunsaas met die roepmetode en ’n pumpkinseed. Ek is lid van die Cape Winelands Artificial Lure Angling Association. MICHAEL NEL - Ek het ’n naweek langs Harties, by Ifafi gekamp en mooi karp gevang. Hierdie een het 8,47kg geweeg en vrygelaat. Al my visse was gevang op Mac Pac se 1+2+3 en 4+5 kombinasies. EG SILLANDS - EG is ’n kenner wanneer dit by babervang kom. Hier is hy met ’n baber wat die skaal op 26,8kg getrek het. Hy was by Bloemhofdam gevang met ’n heel graskarp vir aas. STEFAN SHIRES - Stefan het diè karp van 10,88kg gevang by Meerhof, Harties, asook dié baber van 10,6kg op boilies. RIKUS MULLER & JEAN-MARI VD WESTHUIZEN - Rikus Muller en Jean-Mari vd Westhuizen van Mooirivier kunsaas hengelklub in Noordwes het hierdie babers gevang tydens ’n liga by Vaalrivier (Barrage). Rikus se baber was gevang met ’n crankbait en Jean-Mari met spinnerbait. NELIWE AND SIPHIWE MTHEMBU - I was so happy to catch a mirror carp that was bigger than my husband's mirror carp in the Wilge River. I’m a fishing lady and proud about that. I want to see myself somewhere with my fishing buddy. I would like to travel and see different fishes. I can’t wait to see myself catching a tigerfish! My husband teaches me everything about fishing. Now we are busy with specimen, using Kingfisher 15lb line and 15lbs J Braid as well. Sometimes we target catfish, but most of the time we target carp. We are so happy about Tight Lines and The Kingfisher to keep our dreams true and shine like stars - no Tight Lines, no game! AZHAR GATTOO - I caught this beautiful carp of 12,5kg at Roodekoppies Dam that is now my PB on a hard float and soft dough backing. TOKKIE STEINMANN - I caught this largemouth yellowfish at Oranjeville, Vaal Dam. It took me about 15 minutes to get it in the net, and it weighed 13,67kg. After the photos it was safely released. It was a great experience to see this big one! Thanks, I enjoy the magazine very much.
