NB: Fish must be held preferably in a horizontal position with two hands, with no fingers in the gills or eyes, and not hanging on a hook.
Photos of endangered species such as Brindle Bass, Natal Wrasse, Potato Bass, Sawfin and Seventy-Four are not accepted.
VERY IMPORTANT: By submitting images of persons under the age of 18 years for publication, the person doing so gives full permission to publish it.
AVA BOYDER
Third of March my daughter Ava and I launched on our boat Fine Line at the Richards Bay ski boat club. The weather conditions were ideal and so we decided to head out to sea with the hopes of Ava catching her first musselcracker. Our first stop was to load up a few live baits, which didn’t take too long. We then headed out to the ledge approximately 25km from the harbour and put our luck to the test. It wasn’t long and we had loaded a few good fish, a yellowfin tuna, an amberjack and three very nice dorado. Things quietened down so we pulled our lines in and ran 12km inshore to a good reef to target musselcracker. When we stopped on the spot, conditions were not ideal with the water being cold, reverse current and dirty, anyway, we positioned the boat on top of a good showing, using the anchor and dropped down some juicy cracker baits. It wasn’t long before Ava had hooked into a beaut of a musselcracker, weighing in at 20,2kgs. It was a great day out with loads of excitement and joy, we are looking forward to good days weather to head out again. Kevin Boyder.
EDWIN DE BEER
