Sufix 131 G-Core & X-Rap Magnum Prey & Cast

This time of year most of us get ready for our annual leave and the December holidays. Generally the only thing on our minds is fishing, preparing for fishing and then some more fishing! Chris Schoultz So what's new out there which is going to make my experience a little better over festive seasons break? Two new products which are going to are the new Rapala XRap preys and Sufix's new and already well established Sufix 131 G-CORE braid. X-Rap Magnum Prey; Heavy-duty construction stands up to the strongest of saltwater beasts. SUFIX 131 G-CORE BRAID Another braid? How do I choose a braid from all the shelves that are already packed from wall to wall with all the different choices, but after fishing it since its launch I'm still using the same spool I filled my reel with and so far no problems at all! Smoother, quieter, and more accurate casts.Sufix 131 G-Core, the most reliable Superline. Built with 13 fibres to guarantee consistently strong construction. Fraying is at an absolute minimum, almost unnoticeable and every cast is as good as the first including long distances with the lightest of lures. Lack of fraying also means less wind resistance. The single GORE centre is surrounded by 12 precision braided HMPE fibres making it super round ensuring more accurate and further casts, and provides extra strength with far less water retention making the line lighter while fishing. Yes, it costs a little more than other braids but it's the manufacturing process to weave 12 stands around the core which takes longer and thus delivers the quality of this braid. Like anything in life, you pay for what you get, and you can't put a price on losing a good fish and insuring your best chance of landing that trophy fish. The current range available is on spools of 10lb to 100lb in 300yards Neon Chartreuse. A great colour for high visibility that enables you to always being able to track your lure through the retrieval process. Rapala X-RAP Prey and X-RAP cast At 10cm it's a stickbait that can be used from estuary angling to the toughest of offshore game fish species. They come with the most realistic paint work to fool any game fish. Besides the strong through-wire construction they are fitted with the TI coated VMC heavy duty saltwater hooks and available in UV colours as well. As for casting, at 41grams this lure compares well to some spoons I've fished before - it holds its line so is perfect for the rock and surf guys using 9ft to 11ft rods who are looking for distance to reach game fish. It's fluttering action also ensures you stay in the fish’s strike zone a lot longer and you can get it down to any depth to target your preferred species. X-Rap Magnum Cast has Perfectly balanced swimming action for fast retrieves. In estuaries on my medium Crucial rod it is easy to get the correct action out of it even on windy days. For our offshore guys this is the stickbait to use. For species in the Cape like yellowtail it's the correct size, knowing that ‘tail will often want to eat a smaller lure especially when being fairly "lock jaw" as they so often are; now you can get the distance to reach breaching shoals and stand your best chance to imitate the size bait fish they mainly feeding on.
