The ‘Jacana’ Camp Site

In March I was on assignment on the KZN north coast and camped for a few nights at Cape Vidal where I enjoyed the comfort of the new ‘Jacana’ camping equipment - the 4-man ‘Quest’ tent, ‘Big Boy Sleeping Bag’ and ‘Big Boy Camo Camping Chair’. * The Jacana Quest 4-man tent is one of the easiest and quickest tents that I have ever pitched. Both the window and main entrance are covered in high quality mosquito netting to keep out any unwanted creepy crawlies. But be warned, monkeys know how to open those durable large zippers as well so don’t try to hide any food from them in the tent! SLEEPING BAG Combined with the Jacana Big Boy sleeping bag you are ensured an extremely comfortable night. The bag is rated to minus 3 degrees which I found excessive for the extremely hot March nights at Vidal but will be great on a cold Highveld winter’s night. Anyway, I unzipped the rugged zips and turned it into a blanket and enjoyed a most comfortable night’s rest. At 220cm long it’s big enough to fit even the tallest person. This really is an all-round sleeping bag. In addition, it is extremely lightweight at a fill weight of only 350 grams and is easily stored in the handy bag it is supplied in. Draw strings enable you to pack it quite small and compact which just adds to the convenience. CHAIRS What’s worse than coming back to camp after a long day of fishing than not having anywhere comfortable to sit? Luckily Jacana have extremely comfortable chairs on hand. The Jacana Big Boy Camo Camping chair is strong and sturdy, designed to support 150kg and with conveniently placed cup holders an ice-cold drink is always on hand. Made from a sturdy steel frame that weighs only 4kg the chair is built to last. Even the rain couldn’t make this chair uncomfortable - a simple wipe down with a towel dried the fabric off very quickly. PACKING UP Packing the tent is just as much a breeze as setting it up.
